Modernizing a local school with a web based solution
We recently had the opportunity to work with a local teacher, who educates a class of students with learning difficulties. Throughout the day, the students capture their mood by placing a printed emoticon on a board to describe how they are feeling.
Schools are becoming more and more tech savvy every day. When I think back to my school days, I was lucky to have a computer at home. The closest thing I had to the Internet was a dial-up Bulletin Board System (BBS) and my assignments were all hand written, up until year 12 when I saved up enough to buy a second-hand dot matrix printer for my Commodore 64 (yes showing my age!).
Fast forward to today and hasn’t the game changed. Each student now has their own laptop (or Chromebook in this case), classrooms are Internet enabled and so it made sense that their processes follow suite with an online solution.
Although quite simple in operation, the web based application performs the same role as their existing system, but now facilitates reporting and trending over time.

For the tech heads, the app is developed in Angular, C# .Net Core and MSSQL and containerized with Docker, which makes deployment and scaling a very simple process (I absolutely love this tool!).
